Word Press Ownership, Why You Need It!

A blogger, a business or a poster. No matter what, if you are looking to have a presence on the web you need a site. Word Press offers the flexibility to achieve what ever it is you want to be. While the free web sites are okay the one big thing one has to remember is that the content you put on a free site is not yours. That means what ever you write and share, like photo's and images are not published in your name but the free site. The only control you have is what you put on their site and remove. I don't think it ever goes away, you just have control over what maybe displayed.

When purchasing a domain name and hosting for a small cost per month it will give you all the flexibility you need or ever want when publishing your stuff. Even if it is just a family blog where family members have access and can post to the family blog, the cost is cheap and everyone is protected. When you figure the cost of owning is about $8 a month it is well worth it.

It is yours, no one else's! Private or Public, what ever you want to make it, where the free sites are always public.

The other thing I like about ownership of a domain and hosting is I can create anything I want and have it published that day. For example my domain www.scottwkelley.com is my front static page. I am not saying that this is the way to do it, but it is what I am doing. I then have http://scottwkelley.com/blog where I post to at Scott's Corner. I then have another Word Press that is connected to me http://scottwkelley.com/twister where I talk about my business Social Media Management Services. I also have another domain called www.MyAeropnics.com where I niche the indoor Gardner.

Now here is where things get cool. I have all these sites connected to me, My name, Scott W Kelley as the owner and publisher/author. No matter where I write from I share it to my name. Twister comes up as me, so does MyAeroponics and Scott's Corner too. By linking me to these sites through the social networks, my gravitar, google analytics, AdSense, Face book, Disqus, YouTube, Google+ and Twitter no matter what topic I am writing about, the flavor of the day, it get's posted, tweeted and shared with little to no effort.

When it comes to commenting everything gets connected again and it will be relevant to what I am posting about. I don't even have to think about it anymore, but I will share if I do not see it come up. One way I have been tracking this stuff is using Google Alerts and seeing when and where I post comes up in the keywords of the topics I follow. It is nice to see my name being posted and recognized by Google as it comes in my email box.

So Word Press is a key element these days for any person starting out and businesses who need to revamp and Get Social.
